The Akerley Road Bridge was constructed in 1930 as a 40-foot riveted half-hip Pratt pony truss. According to the PAHBI, ''According to PennDOT records, the original Pratt pony truss superstructure was replaced in 1988 by the addition of steel stringers and two concrete barrel piers. The Pratt trusses were kept as railings.''
